Blue Underground Warms Up This Winter With Two Big Lustig Releases

Blue Underground, William Lustig’s beloved cult media label is offering up two of the director’s best flicks–MANIAC (1980) and VIGILANTE (1982)–in shiny
double disc editions this December!

Lustig’s notorious serial killer shocker, MANIAC was previously released in a now out-of-print 2018 edition. This is a more compact release of the same masterful 4K restoration, with two Blu-rays instead of a Blu-ray and DVD, and minus a CD soundtrack and collectible booklet. Though it’s a slimmer package, this release of MANIAC is still stuffed to the gills with a mountain of extras and is a must-buy for any fan of ’80s slasher/grindhouse fare.

Disc 1 (Blu-ray) Feature Film + Extras:
• Audio Commentary #1 with Producer/Director William Lustig and Producer Andrew Garroni
• Audio Commentary #2 with Producer/Director William Lustig, Special Make-Up Effects Artist Tom Savini, Editor Lorenzo Marinelli, and Joe Spinell’s Assistant Luke Walter
• Theatrical Trailers
• TV Spots
• Radio Spots

Disc 2 (Blu-ray) Extras:
• MANIAC Outtakes
• Returning to the Scene of the Crime with William Lustig
• Anna and the Killer – Interview with Star Caroline Munro

• MANIAC Controversy

And for fans of revenge thrillers like Death Wish, Cold Pursuit, and The Equilizer, the film that Pop Matters calls “A Much Stronger, More Severe – And Satisfying – Statement!” than any Charles Bronson vehicle, VIGILANTE has gotten a 4K restoration in an exclusive Limited Collector’s Edition. This world-premiere spit shine includes a 4K UHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, a collectible booklet (with writing on the film by Rue Morgue’s own Michael Gingold), a reversible sleeve, and a 3D lenticular slipcover (First Pressing Only).

Extras:

  • Audio Commentary #1 with Co-Producer/Director William Lustig and Co-Producer Andrew Garroni
  • Audio Commentary #2 with Co-Producer/Director William Lustig and Stars Robert Forster, Fred Williamson and Frank Pesce
