Black Fawn Distribution launches Blu-ray retro slipcase line with “HARPOON”; complete specs and art

Canada’s Black Fawn Distribution is getting into the collectible slipcase game with its upcoming Blu-ray of the acclaimed black-comic shocker HARPOON. Read on for all the details and images.

Black Fawn will release HARPOON in a two-disc collector’s edition February 11. Written and directed by Rob Grant, it stars Munro Chambers, Emily Tyra and Christopher Gray and has received widespread raves from critics (including ours). The synopsis: “When maladjusted Jonah [Chambers] is attacked by his hot-headed best friend Richard [Gray]—who believes Jonah and his long-term girlfriend Sasha [Tyra] are sleeping together—the caustic bond between the three friends is quickly called into question. Once Jonah and Sasha convince Richard that the allegations are false, Richard apologizes by taking them on a pleasure cruise on his fancy new yacht. After an accident renders the boat inoperable, dark secrets and sexual tensions emerge, and with their rations of food and water starting to quickly dwindle, Jonah, Richard and Sasha must choose to put aside their differences or risk dying on the open water.”

The discs will feature an HD transfer of the movie in widescreen with DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio, and a retro slipcase with unique custom artwork. Special features are:

  • Audio commentary by writer/director Rob Grant and producers Michael Peterson and Kurtis Harder
  • Audio commentary by director of photography Charles Hamilton and colorist Brendon Rathbone
  • “Psychedelic commentary” by writer/director Rob Grant
  • 30-minute behind-the-scenes making-of featurette
  • B-roll footage of the cast and crew
  • Deleted scenes
  • Trailers

The set sells for $24.99 Canadian, and is also available in a Blacklist package ($35.99 Canadian for Blacklist members, $47.99 Canadian for non-members) that includes a copy signed by Chambers, three mini-lobby cards, an exclusive VHS sticker from Vinyl Hell Sticker Co., a HARPOON “Lost at Sea” survival kit, a pair of Harpoon sea shades and more.
