Horror microdrama “BITE CLUB” (with a “CHOPPING MALL” reunion!) premieres in NYC this month

We’re breaking the first rule and talking about BITE CLUB.

New York City’s ALZA Festival, devoted to vertical microdramas and running Friday-Sunday, October 16-18 at the AMC 19th St. East 6, is showcasing the world premieres of several horror titles. Among them is BITE CLUB, which stars Barbara Crampton and Russell Todd (pictured above), reunited on the 40th anniversary of their cult favorite CHOPPING MALL. Directed by Sam Irvin (GUILTY AS CHARGED, ELVIRA’S HAUNTED HILLS), it also features Casie Maghran, Barbara Crampton, Jonah Walker and Kyle Michael. The synopsis: “Their motto is ‘The first rule of Bite Club is: You do not talk about Bite Club.’ A scholarship student is investigating the suspicious murder of her best friend at the prestigious Weddington University. Her search leads her to The Crimson Circle, a secret society hiding centuries-old vampire bloodlines, where she finds herself torn between a fellow student with secrets of his own and a magnetic insider whose connection to the society runs far deeper than she realizes.”

Also in the ALZA Fest lineup:

BLOOD SURFER: When a daywalking vampire falls for the heartthrob of the local surf scene, he must choose between life under the sun or repaying an ancient blood debt that his family owes to a ruthless vampire overlord. From Malix Media. Starring Noah Bird and Sophie Teasell. Directed by Alex Reinhard.

HAUNTED: A girl who talks to ghosts falls for the one boy she’s told to fear: the untouchable son of a serial killer. To be together, they’ll have to unmask the murderer, framing him, before she’s next. Starring Joseph Purcell, Halle Fletcher and Ben Armstrong. Directed by Soma Helmi.

HAUNTED BY YOU: In a small town bound by tradition, a grieving woman performs a forbidden ritual to summon her dead true love, only to unleash his increasingly powerful, vengeful and possessive spirit as she begins falling for the husband her father chose to replace him. Starring Tiffany Alvord, Dante Ayala, Eric Lutz and Jordan Kennedy. Directed by Olia Oparina.
