Lionsgate has released the first teaser trailer and poster for Day Drinker, the new thriller reuniting Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz for a fourth collaboration, ahead of a March 26, 2027 theatrical release.
Directed by Marc Webb ((500) Days of Summer, The Amazing Spider-Man), Day Drinker follows a private yacht bartender, played by Madelyn Cline, who crosses paths with a mysterious guest played by Depp. The pair are soon pulled into the orbit of a criminal figure played by Cruz, in what the official synopsis describes as an entanglement “no one saw coming.” The cast also includes Manu Ríos, Arón Piper and Juan Diego Botto.
Billed officially as a thriller, the teaser has already drawn attention from horror outlets for its unnerving tone, with Depp playing what one early report called “a force of evil.” Whether that reading holds up once more footage surfaces remains to be seen and is not an official description, but the film’s atmosphere of isolation and dread, playing out largely aboard an open water yacht, puts it squarely in the kind of high tension territory horror audiences tend to gravitate toward regardless of its official billing.
Day Drinker is produced for Lionsgate in association with 30WEST and Media Capital Technologies. No additional footage or details have been announced ahead of the film’s spring 2027 release.
