Somewhere between the SCP Foundation’s endless containment logs and Junji Ito’s most obsessive nightmares sits House of Anomalies — Floor 1, a new illustrated book from Italian horror-comics micro-press Hollow Press. The conceit is simple and mean: every spread opens on a door, and turning the page reveals whatever’s waiting behind it, dossier included.
The book is the work of Super Eyepatch Wolf, the YouTube essayist better known for sprawling video dives into fake video games and internet folklore than for print horror — though anyone who’s sat through his channel’s more unsettling detours will recognize the instinct. Hollow Press describes House of Anomalies as “heavily inspired by SCP, Junji Ito, and weird internet horror in general,” language worth reading closely: neither Ito nor the SCP Foundation had any actual hand in making it. The influence here is worn openly, not licensed — worth flagging since some coverage of the book has blurred that line.
What Hollow Press has assembled instead is a small army of artists tasked with designing the anomalies themselves, among them Trevor Henderson, the illustrator whose viral creature designs — Siren Head, Cartoon Cat, and their unsettling relatives — have become their own strain of internet mythology. He’s joined by Abdou Bouam, David Romero, Eduardo Valdés-Hevia, Gabrielle Heller, Hazel Coonagh, helllst4r, Ivan Stan, Jane Gorelik, Mimi Chio, Raquitiko, Rebecca Reynolds, spoogyoogie, Strange House, and Suguru Tanaka — a genuinely deep bench for what amounts to a haunted-house group show bound between two covers. Romero, working under the name cinemamind, handles cover duties.
House of Anomalies — Floor 1 clocks in at 128 pages A4, full-colour offset printing on Magno Volume stock, thick enough to double as a doorstop for whatever it depicts. A standard edition runs €35 in English or Italian; a €135 collector’s edition throws in a signed print of Henderson’s contribution. Hollow Press has the regular edition shipping by January 2027, with collector copies promised by mid-December 2026.
