“The Creep Tapes” Kicks Off Season 3 on Shudder

Shudder and AMC+ dropped the first two episodes of The Creep Tapes‘ third season today, continuing the found footage anthology’s run of turning uncomfortable small talk into some of the more purely unsettling television horror has going right now.

Mark Duplass returns as the killer known variously as Josef, Aaron, Bill, David and, to fans, simply Peachfuzz — a wolf mask enthusiast who lures targets through classified ads and documents the encounters himself. Series co-creator Patrick Brice directs all six episodes this season, with Duplass and Brice sharing writing duties as they have since the format began life as the Creep feature films. This season adds Kate Siegel, Nic Hamilton and Elliott Fullam to the guest roster, along with Ora Duplass in what’s being described as a throwback episode reaching back into the character’s history.

Duplass has said the new episodes “dive more into the lore” of the character, working toward answering why he is the way he is, while keeping the show’s central tension intact: long stretches of excruciating, almost comic awkwardness that curdle into real danger without much warning.

The remaining four episodes will roll out two at a time on Tuesdays through September 29.
