An Indigenous filmmaker and cast are gearing up for undead battle as BLOOD QUANTUM heads for its start of production next week.
Prospector Films has announced that BLOOD QUANTUM begins shooting Monday, April 9 and continues through late May, on locations including Montreal, the Kahnawake Mohawk Territory and Listuguj, Quebec. Mi’gmaq filmmaker Jeff Barnaby, making his second feature after RHYMES FOR YOUNG GHOULS, scripted and will direct, and the cast includes FEAR THE WALKING DEAD’s Michael Greyeyes (pictured), Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers, Forrest Goodluck, Kiowa Gordon, Olivia Scriven, Brandon Oakes, William Belleau, Kawennahere Devery Jacobs, veteran actor Gary Farmer (TALES FROM THE CRYPT: DEMON KNIGHT, FOREVER KNIGHT) and Muay Thai expert and MMA trainer Stonehorse Lone Goeman. The synopsis: “The dead are coming back to life outside the isolated Mi’gmaq reserve of Red Crow, except for its Indigenous inhabitants who are immune to the zombie plague. Traylor [Greyeyes], the tribal sheriff, must protect his son’s pregnant girlfriend, apocalyptic refugees and reserve riff raff from the hordes of walking white corpses.”
Erik Gosselin, who has worked on dozens of TV shows and movies including GOTHIKA, CRIMSON PEAK etc., is creating the makeup effects, with the Blood Brothers (TURBO KID) on the mechanical effects. Elevation Pictures will release BLOOD QUANTUM in Canada, while XYZ Films will handle U.S. sales.
