Neil Marshall’s “The Reckoning” Finds A Home At Shudder

English director Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers, The Descent, Game of Thrones) is back in the horror game with THE RECKONING, which played as the opening night feature at Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival 2020, and has now been acquired by RLJE Entertainment for release on streaming service Shudder next year! Check out the full details below.

Intellectual Property House Arcana Studio and prolific media financier BondIt Media Capital, have announced that their co-financed new thriller THE RECKONING, written and directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers, Game of Thrones) has sold to RLJ Entertainment and Shudder for a 2021 release. Starring Charlotte Kirk (Ocean’s 8, Vice), Sean Pertwee (‘Gotham’), and Joe Anderson (Across the Universe), the film is executive produced by Jas Boparai and co-written by Edward Evers-Swindell and Charlotte Kirk.

Arcana is coming off a recent co-financing partnership with BondIt Media Capital on two additional live-action films – APEX and AMERICAN SIEGE – both starring Bruce Willis.

THE RECKONING follows Grace Haverstock (Kirk), a young widow, haunted by the recent suicide of her husband Joseph (Anderson), who is falsely accused of being a witch by her jealous Landlord, Squire Pendleton (Steven Waddington, The Imitation Game), after she rejects his unwanted advances. Grace must endure physical persecution at the hands of England’s most ruthless witch-hunter Judge Moorcroft (Pertwee) and face her own inner demons as the Devil himself starts to work his way into her mind.

Earlier this year, THE RECKONING was the opening night film at Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival, also the film’s world premiere. Fantasia commented that THE RECKONING is a “vivid, compelling and confrontational film whose themes are frighteningly pertinent to today’s concerns”, adding that “it will knock the wind out of you.”

“We’ve found an exceptional partner in BondIt – THE RECKONING being our fourth venture together,” says Arcana CEO Sean O’Reilly. “With the recent productions of Social Animals, Apex and American Siege, Arcana has now expanded into film financing, and this is a new model that we are thrilled to be incorporating into our operations.”

“We’ve loved working with Neil Marshall as he’s a world-class creative and visionary director,” noted BondIt CEO and Co-Founder Matthew Helderman, “and our continued partnership with Arcana is ramping up in exciting ways for 2021.”

THE RECKONING will be released in 2021 in the US via RLJ Entertainment. The film will then be available on Shudder. THE RECKONING is being sold worldwide by Highland Film Group, with additional sales currently in negotiation following American Film Market.
