Elisha Cuthbert and Eoin Macken enter “THE CELLAR” in new Irish chiller

Brendan Muldowney, who previously helmed the Tom Holland-starrer PILGRIMAGE, gets rolling on the supernatural film next month.

Epic Pictures has announced that Muldowney, who also scripted, will be directing Elisha Cuthbert (pictured, from 24 and CAPTIVITY) and Eoin Macken (RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER, THE FOREST) in THE CELLAR, which will shoot in Roscommon, Ireland. Other members of the PILGRIMAGE team involved are director of photography Tom Comerford and composer Stephen McKeown (who were also on THE HOLE IN THE GROUND) and production designer Owen Power. According to the official synopsis, “THE CELLAR tells the story of Keira Woods [Cuthbert], whose daughter mysteriously vanishes in the cellar of their new house in the country. Keira soon discovers there is an ancient and powerful entity controlling their home that she will have to face or risk losing her family’s souls forever.”

“I’m very excited to be working with such a talented cast and crew to bring the world of THE CELLAR into people’s nightmares,” Muldowney says, and executive producer Patrick Ewald adds, “Some nightmares are meant to be shared with the world. THE CELLAR is perhaps the darkest one. The incredible combination of director Brendan Muldowney, producers Conor Barry and Richard Bolger, along with Elisha Cuthbert and Eoin Macken make this unique and riveting horror story something special to capture the attention of buyers at AFM and audiences around the world.”
