Enjoy horror-star-studded virtual script reads of “FROM BEYOND,” “DEMON KNIGHT” and more!

While we’re all sheltering at home and enjoying video entertainment, the Scripts Gone Wild gang is offering a different way to enjoy horror classics: Its ongoing series of raucous on-line script-reading shows.

Scripts Gone Wild began at the Chattanooga Film Festival in 2017 and now operates out of Los Angeles, bringing together actors and filmmakers to read genre and cult movie scripts for a virtual presentation. The gimmick is that anyone who flubs a line or misses a cue has to take a drink of alcohol, which just adds to the entertainment. Previous movies re-enacted in this unique format have ranged from JURASSIC PARK to A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET to THE MONSTER SQUAD to ZOMBIE NIGHTMARE, and the upcoming weekly schedule has a bunch of fright features on tap:

  • Tomorrow, April 15: FROM BEYOND, a tribute to Stuart Gordon featuring original star Barbara Crampton and other Gordon alums like Jonathan Fuller (CASTLE FREAK), Chris L. McKenna (KING OF THE ANTS) and RE-ANIMATOR: THE MUSICAL’s Graham Skipper and Jesse Merlin, plus filmmaker Gigi Saul Guerrero and actor Ian Lassiter
  • May 20: CHILD’S PLAY with Julie Benz (DEXTER, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER), Shock Waves’ Elric Kane and Rebekah McKendry, Jared Rivet, Brian Gillespie, Caleb Andrew Ward and Josh Forbes
  • May 27: NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (the original) with the remake’s William Butler, Ben Hethcoat and more to be announced, hosted by Frank Dietz
  • June 24: TALES FROM THE CRYPT PRESENTS DEMON KNIGHT with the DEADPOOL films’ Karan Soni, fright actresses Felissa Rose and Tiffany Shepis, Jeremy Gardner (THE BATTERY, AFTER MIDNIGHT), Luke Mullen, Rivet, Ward, Aaron LaPlante and more to be announced

Other movies in the lineup include the Bill Murray classic STRIPES (April 22, with Gardner and his AFTER MIDNIGHT co-star Henry Zebrowski), the Hitchcock landmark REAR WINDOW (May 6, with THE INNKEEPERS and COMPLIANCE’s Pat Healy), MOMMIE DEAREST (June 17, with Joshua Grannell a.k.a. Peaches Christ) and more. The shows begin at 7:30 p.m. PST and can be seen via Scripts Gone Wild’s official website; you can also donate to the organization’s good causes there.
