First photos: Black Fawn/Breakthrough and David Koechner have “VICIOUS FUN”

The latest project from Canadian genre specialists Black Fawn Films and Breakthrough Entertainment takes a black-comic look at serial murder. Read on for the details and to check out some new behind-the-scenes pics.

Turner Latin America’s new movie banner Particular Crowd was also part of the production team behind VICIOUS FUN, which was directed by Cody Calahan, who also produced with Chad Archibald, and scripted by James Villeneuve. The cast is headed by David Koechner (CHEAP THRILLS), Evan Marsh, Amber Goldfarb, Julian Richings (CUBE, WRONG TURN), Robert Maillet (THE STRAIN), Ari Millen and Sean Baek. According to the official synopsis, “The film follows Joel, a caustic 1980s film critic for a national horror magazine, who finds himself unwittingly trapped in a self-help group for serial killers. With no other choice, Joel attempts to blend in with his homicidal surroundings or risk becoming the next victim.”

“It felt like the right time for us to branch out and make something outside our comfort zone,” Calahan says. “These characters are wacky, satirical and genuinely funny. I can honestly say that I’ve never had so much fun on set and I think that translates directly to the screen. VICIOUS FUN marks the start of a new slate of films for us and we’re committed to pushing ourselves in new directions.”
