French-Canadian gorefest “GAME OF DEATH” grabbed for North American release

After playing over 30 festivals including Sitges, Fantasia, SXSW and FrightFest, GAME OF DEATH will see wider release later this year. Read on for the details.

Cleopatra Entertainment has announced its acquisition of North American rights to GAME OF DEATH, which will receive nationwide U.S. theatrical play this spring followed by VOD/DVD release in the summer. Directed by Sebastien Landry and Laurence Baz Morais from a script they wrote with Edouard H. Bond, adapted by Philip Kalin-Hajdu, it stars Sam Earle, Victoria Diamond, Emelia Hellman, Catherine Saindon, Erniel Baez D, Nick Serino and Thomas Vallieres. The synopsis: “In GAME OF DEATH, ‘kill or be killed’ is the golden rule, which sucks for seven millennials who decide to play one sunny day. They quickly realize that if they don’t murder people, their heads will literally explode. Hence, they go on a killing spree, taking the lives of anyone they meet in their middle-of-nowhere town. The killer-instinct in each of them bubbles to the surface as the search for victims unravels into chaos. Divided, terrified and confronted with their own mortality, their drive to survive blurs with their desire to win the game.” See our review of GAME OF DEATH here and the original, uncensored, NSFW trailer below.
