If you’re going to be in New England this November, be sure to check out fifth annual Ax Wound Film Festival (AWFF), the official festival of Women in Horror Month. Join them Friday evening, November 15th and all-day Saturday, November 16th at the Hooker-Dunham Theater & Gallery (https:// www.hookerdunham.org) in downtown Brattleboro, Vermont with some of the most riveting and intense shorts directed by women.
“Many films are darkly funny and more likely to utilize experimental storytelling over the traditional narratives,” says festival director Hannah “Neurotica” Forman. Neurotica’s vision each year is focused on the myriad perspectives of today’s social climate. “2019 is horror, and we are left to our own devices, camera, pens, and paints to collectively process it.”
Doors open to the public on Friday at 7:30 PM and Saturday at 10:00 AM. In addition to almost 40 short films, the festival will feature workshops from Monika Estrella Negra and Christina Raia, a Q & A with Rowena Gangrena, and plenty of vendors and giveaways (including some prize packs provided by Rue Morgue).
Proceeds earned from the giveaway raffle go to the Hooker-Dunham Theater & Gallery and the Scleroderma Research Foundation (https://srfcure. org). All-access passes that are good for both days are available for purchase at the door for $20.00 (students with ID receive 50% off). Just remember tickets at the door are cash only!
