Feel the “FEAR” with Dario Argento’s new autobiography; signed collector’s edition available

Much has been written about Italian maestro Dario Argento and his cinema over the decades, and now the filmmaker himself is telling his own story in his autobiography FEAR. A special edition autographed by Argento is now up for pre-order; read on for the details.

FAB Press is selling this first edition of FEAR exclusively, and has it set to ship September 12. Limited to 1,000 individually numbered books, the hardcover tome features a signature plate on the title page personally signed by Argento, plus silver gilt page edges and a red silk page marker ribbon. (A standard trade edition will be available later this year.) It can be pre-ordered for £20 at the FAB Press website, which describes FEAR thusly:

“With candor and honesty, FEAR lifts the lid on the trials and tribulations of Argento’s glittering career during the sensational Golden Era of Cinecittà. From his childhood mixing with glamorous Italian movie stars thanks to his noted photographer mother and his film industry father to his start in the fledgling field of cinema criticism, Argento shares compelling anecdotes about his life growing up in La Dolce Vita Rome.

“Adapted from the Italian translation, annotated by world-renowned Argento expert Alan Jones, and illustrated with numerous rare photographs from his collection, the award-winning and critically acclaimed Master of Terror tells all. So put on your black leather gloves and start turning the pages of FEAR for the answer to every question you’ve ever wanted to ask about the weird and wonderful world of Dario Argento.”

FAB Press is also taking pre-orders on THE FRIGHTFEST GUIDE TO WEREWOLF MOVIES, the latest in its series of studies of specific subgenres. (Full disclosure: RUE MORGUE’s Michael Gingold penned THE FRIGHTFEST GUIDE TO MONSTER MOVIES.) Just premiered at London’s FrightFest event, this book was written by acclaimed author/broadcaster Gavin Baddeley and covers the history of lycanthropictures from their earliest origins to the present day, with a foreword by DOG SOLDIERS director Neil Marshall. With a street date of October 1, the exclusive hardcover edition can be pre-ordered for £20 from FAB here; a paperback edition will also be available.
