It’s part found footage and part video-store homage.

SOUTHERN SCARES is coming to VOD platforms including YouTube, Prime Video and Apple TV June 16. Written and directed by Paul Rowe, it stars Emma Gaines, Sydney Gowan, Talen Hutchinson and horror fave Dee Wallace. The synopsis: “Mystery, horror, and Southern folklore collide in the 1990s when a video store worker uncovers chilling secrets hidden in her missing sister’s documentary series, SOUTHERN SCARES. It’s a kid-friendly mystery, filmed partly in 1990s camcorder-style found footage, where a ghost-hunting show turns real. It blends GOOSEBUMPS charm with BLAIR WITCH tension, as young creators chase legends from the United States that come alive, delivering spooky fun, heart, and mystery.”
