By WILLIAM J. WRIGHT

From an infamous UFO flap and alleged alien abductions to legendary hauntings, New York’s Hudson Valley has long been a hotspot of high strangeness. In THE KINDERHOOK CREATURE: IN THE SHADOW OF SASQUATCH, filmmaker Seth Breedlove and Small Town Monsters delve into one of the area’s lesser-known, but equally compelling mysteries.

Author Bruce G. Hallenbeck

A companion piece to author Bruce G. Hallenbeck‘s 2022 book, The Kinderhook Creature and Beyond, the film recounts a string of inexplicable encounters with a bizarre, apelike creature that plagued the citizens of bucolic Kinderhook, New York, throughout the 1980s. Featuring recreations and personal recollections by Hallenback and others personally affected by the phenomenon, THE KINDERHOOK CREATURE examines the intersection of history, folklore and reality as never before.

In this clip shared exclusively with RUE MORGUE, Hallenback recalls how a frightening incident involving his grandmother brought the New York Sasquatch to the public’s attention.

THE KINDERHOOK CREATURE debuts on digital platforms March 24.
