Three women in different eras are connected by an evil presence in the festival favorite.

Film Movement brings THE WAILING (no relation to the 2016 Korean horror feature of the same title) to VOD and digital platforms this Friday, December 5. A truly scary and consistently intriguing experience, it was directed by Pedro Martín-Calero from a script he wrote with Isabel Peña, and has won praise at festivals including Sitges, San Sebastian (where it won the Best Director award), the Tokyo International Film Festival, Scary Movies at New York City’s Lincoln Center and the BFI London Film Festival. Ester Expósito stars as Andrea, a Madrid university student who hears the unearthly titular sounds coming from a mysterious apartment building, and comes to realize she’s being stalked by a shadowy, menacing figure. Twenty years earlier in Argentina, another student, Camila (Malena Villa), becomes obsessed with the beautiful Marie (Mathilde Ollivier), and they too become embroiled with this evil entity. The story unfolds with a steadily building sense of unease and terror until the connection is finally revealed.
