How do you create one of the most controversial horror films in recent years? This doc will reveal all.
Unearthed Films has A SERBIAN DOCUMENTARY heading out onto the festival circuit. It’s an in-depth, unfiltered chronicle of the making of A SERBIAN FILM, director/co-writer Srdjan Spasojevic’s saga of a former porn actor who is lured into making a snuff movie and worse, which scandalized the screen scene after it began hitting fests in 2010. Directed by Unearthed CEO Stephen Biro and written by Biro and Caleb Emerson (DIE YOU ZOMBIE BASTARDS!), it features selections from over 162 hours of exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with 14 members of the SERBIAN FILM team, including Spasojevic, co-scripter Aleksandar Radivojevic, director of photography Nemanja Jovanov and actors Srdjan Zika Todorovic, Sergej Trifunovic, Jelena Gavrilovic, Katarina Zutic, Slobodan Bestic and Lena Bogdanovic.
Unearthed’s PR states, “Prepare for a wild ride as it navigates the themes of censorship and artistic expression, revealing what filmmakers and actors truly believed they were creating. Hilarious, sexy but yet intense, this documentary provides a unique perspective on a film that has sparked debates and outrage globally. Be forewarned: It’s not just informative, but also an outrageous blend of ferocity and humor that promises to challenge your expectations. If you thought you knew the story behind A SERBIAN FILM, think again!”
I look forward to watching this. It was a shocking movie.
