There’s a very cool Famous Monsters of Filmland vibe to this art.
Severin Films gave us the first peek at a special throwback slipcase for its UHD/Blu-ray release of THE LAST HORROR FILM, which will be available only during The Severin Summer Sale, running this Friday, July 12 through Monday, July 15 at the official website. Shot largely at the 1981 Cannes Film Festival, the movie stars Joe Spinell as Vinny Durand, a New York City cab driver who’s obsessed with horror actress Jana Bates (Caroline Munro), and stalks her at Cannes to pitch her his dream movie project. The disc set is fully loaded with special features (including–full disclosure–a couple by this writer); for those details, click here.
Severin says of the new case: “Last year’s limited license of THE LAST HORROR FILM has left us with only a few hundred units, so we’re going out like true fanatics: Our all-new over-the-top throwback slip features a front cover illustration of Joe Spinell/Vinnie Durand by Rondo Awards Artist of the Year Mark Spears, and a Caroline Munro/Jana Bates pin-up poster ad on back–sorry, it’s not an actual offer–by Drazen. These insanely beautiful slips will be available only during the Summer Sale with purchase of THE LAST HORROR FILM UHD or separately for those who purchased the disc during last year’s sale, while supplies last.”
