IFC Midnight reveals trailer and poster for possession chiller “WELCOME TO MERCY”

Playing a pair of festivals this month and seeing wider release in November is the convent-set fright film WELCOME TO MERCY. Read on for all the info, plus the just-released trailer and poster.

IFC Midnight brings WELCOME TO MERCY to select theaters, VOD and digital platforms November 2; prior to that, the movie makes its world premiere at New York City’s Brooklyn Horror Film Festival and Los Angeles’ Screamfest on October 13. Tommy Bertelsen directed from a screenplay by Kristen Ruhlin, who also stars; the cast additionally includes Lily Newmark and Eileen Davies, and the music is by Michael Shuman, bassist for Queens of the Stone Age and Mini-Mansions. The synopsis: “After being stricken with stigmata, single mother Madaline [Ruhlin] is sent to a remote convent where nothing is what it seems and her friend August [Newmark] is seemingly the only person she can trust. Together, they must confront the demons inside Madaline before she becomes the Antichrist.”
