The veteran indie filmmaker’s take on werewolves is getting closer to release.

Yellow Veil Pictures has announced that it will handle worldwide sales of Larry Fessenden’s BLACKOUT, beginning with a presentation of first footage to buyers at this month’s European Film Market. The company has also issued the initial poster, seen below. Written and directed by Fessenden based on his TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE entry of the same title, BLACKOUT stars Alex Hurt (son of the late William; pictured above), Motell Gyn Foster, Marshall Bell (TOTAL RECALL, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2), Joseph Castillo-Midyett, Ella Rae Peck, Rigo Garay, Michael Buscemi, Cody Kostro, Marc Senter (THE LOST, OLD MAN) and such past collaborators as Jeremy Holm (THE RANGER), Barbara Crampton (JAKOB’S WIFE), Joe Swanberg (YOU’RE NEXT), Addison Timlin and James Le Gros from Fessenden’s previous DEPRAVED and the filmmaker’s regular player John Speredakos. The makeup effects were created by Fessenden’s frequent collaborators Brian Spears and Peter Gerner. According to the official synopsis, “The film follows a fine-arts painter [Hurt] convinced he is a werewolf wreaking havoc on a small American town every full moon.

“I am interested in finding new truths in the classic monster tropes of my youth,” Fessenden says. “The essence of each creature dictates the milieu of the film, and of course, the werewolf is both out of control and regretful, so that duality shaped my story. I am excited to work with Yellow Veil again [after DEPRAVED]; they understand my filmmaking and have been fierce advocates.”
