The latest chiller from NYC horror auteur Larry Fessenden is stalking closer to release, as genre specialist Yellow Veil Pictures has picked up the worldwide sales rights.
Yellow Veil, which has also handled such acclaimed independent/foreign genre films as Tilman Singer’s LUZ, Jenn Wexler’s THE RANGER, A.T. White’s just-released STARFISH and Josh Lobo’s upcoming I TRAPPED THE DEVIL, just announced its acquisition of DEPRAVED, ahead of its world premiere tonight at New York City’s What the Fest!? Produced by Fessenden’s Glass Eye Pix and Joe Swanberg’s Forager Film Company, DEPRAVED stars David Call, Alex Breaux, Joshua Leonard (UNSANE), Ana Kayne, THE RANGER’s Chloe Levine and Addison Timlin (THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN). The synopsis: “Stitching together the pieces of Mary Shelley’s FRANKENSTEIN, DEPRAVED is a contemporary reimagining of the seminal tale centered on a field surgeon [Call] who creates a man out of body parts in a makeshift lab in Brooklyn. Successful in his attempts but consumed with remorse over what he’s done, Henry tries to protect his creation, Adam [Breaux], from the world. However, as Adam’s development continues, it is no longer clear who needs protecting.”
“It is very exciting to be working with Yellow Veil on this project,” Fessenden says. “I am enthused to partner with a young company that is finding its groove in this fickle business, and I look forward to seeing what they can do to get my movie out into capable hands.” Adds Joe Yanick, who runs Yellow Veil with Hugues Barbier and Justin Timms, “DEPRAVED represents everything that is great about Fessenden’s work. It’s an honor to be able to work with a director I’ve so greatly admired.” Stay tuned for further details on DEPRAVED’s release.
