XYZ Films has just released the poster and trailer for Mexican filmmaker Michelle Garza Cervera‘s feature debut HUESERA. The occult horror film will have its world premiere on June 9 at New York’s famed TRIBECA FILM FEST as part of the festival’s Midnight section. XYZ Films has acquired HUESERA for theatrical release in North America as part of their new distribution arm.

HUESERA stars Natalia Solián as Valeria, a young woman pregnant with her first child. However, Valeria’s happiness is cut short when she’s cursed by an evil entity. As her life and relationships fall apart, she plunges deep into the world of dark magic. Consumed with the occult, her last hope arrives in the form of a coven of witches, but will her safety and salvation be worth the risk to her soul?

Garza Cervera is a rising talent in the Mexican horror film scene whose short films have been screened at over a hundred festivals worldwide, including Fantastic Fest, the Fantasia International Film Festival, and Sitges.

HUESERA will be released theatrically by XYZ following its global festival run. Check out the film’s terrifying trailer below!
