The horrific, bizarre and underground sides of cinema are showcased at the Philadelphia Unnamed Film Festival, whose third edition runs next month. The full lineup has been announced.
Running Wednesday, September 5 to Sunday, September 9 at the Proscenium Theater at the Drake in Center City, PUFF 2018 offers a diverse slate of features and shorts, and launches with a pre-fest, 30th-anniversary screening of John Waters’ HAIRSPRAY on Wednesday, September 5, followed by a Q&A with actress Elizabeth Coffey. The fest officially begins on Thursday the 6th at 7 p.m. with a Legacy Award Ceremony honoring Joe Augustyn, writer/producer of NIGHT OF THE DEMONS and its sequel. The slate of movies is:
- Thursday, September 6 at 7:15 p.m.: Joko Anwar’s SATAN’S SLAVES
- Thursday, September 6 at 9:15 p.m.: Joseph Litzinger and Eric Michael Schrader’s WILL WORK FOR VIEWS: THE LO-FI LIFE OF WEIRD PAUL, followed by a filmmaker Q&A and a live performance by Weird Paul Petroskey
- Friday, September 7 at 7 p.m.: Mitzi Peirone’s BRAID
- Friday, September 7 at 9 p.m.: Bizarre Shorts Block
- Friday, September 7 at 11 p.m.: Brett Glassberg’s DERELICTS (pictured above), followed by a filmmaker Q&A
- Saturday, September 8 at 1 p.m.: Joe Badon’s THE GOD INSIDE MY EAR
- Saturday, September 8 at 3 p.m.: Trevor Stevens’ ROCK STEADY ROW
