Video Game News: Chucky Slices and Dices in Latest “Dead by Daylight” DLC

“Hi, I’m Chucky. Wanna play?” Dead by Daylight gamers will get their chance when the CHUCKY CHAPTER enters the Fog on November 28. Bringing the iconic Good Guys doll into the Entity’s realm wasn’t an easy task, as the development team had to address stature-related differences between the characters. Thankfully, the human embodiment of Chucky’s spirit – serial killer Charles Lee Ray – will be on hand to aid and abet whenever there’s a Survivor in need of being hooked.

Add-ons haven’t been announced yet, but seeing as Behaviour Interactive draws heavily from a character’s respective franchise, it’s safe to assume the same will happen here. Chucky’s minuscule size lends naturally to him working as a stealth-focused Killer, with his Scamper ability providing the means to scuttle underneath pallets and vault through windows. His Slice and Dice attack closes the gap on hot-footed Survivors with a deadly lunge attack. Additional character-specific perks include:

  • Hex: Two Can Play – Blinds any survivor that stuns or blinds you.
  • Friends ‘Til the End – When you hook a Survivor that is not the Obsession, the Obsession will become exposed and briefly reveal their aura. When you hook the Obsession, a random Survivor will scream and become the Obsession.
  • Batteries Included – Whenever a Generator is complete, entering its vicinity will grant you a movement speed boost for as long as you remain in range.

With his current TV show stoking the interest of a new generation of fans, Chucky’s never been more popular than he is now, To satisfy fandom old and new, multiple looks from across the Child’s Play lineage will be available as skins. And, in using a tactic previously seen in the Resident Evil x Dead by Daylight crossover, Chucky can trade in his rainbow stripes and overalls for a leather jacket and bloodied wedding dress with the Good Gal skin, offering up the ability to play as his butchering bride, Tiffany.

Marking a first for the widely popular game, Chucky will be the first Killer to slaughter in the third-person, a departure from the traditional first-person approach that every other antagonist employs. Continuing the trend of having real actors voice their digital personas that began with Bruce Campbell as Ash and continuing with Nic Cage as… Nic Cage, Brad Dourif  VO’d a whole new set of threats for Chucky to spout off, along with that trademark maniacal laugh we all love to hate.

While most Killers are released with a corresponding Survivor and map, details at the moment seem to suggest that Chucky will be stand-alone. More details will be announced in the run-up to the late November release, and PC gamers can now jump into the public test build on Steam.

Dead by Daylight: CHUCKY CHAPTER releases on November 28 across all platforms.
