USAopoly Makes A Monopoly Out Of “Five Nights at Freddy’s”

Tuesday, November 6, 2018 | Review

USAopoly have released another classic board game with a horror twist; this time around, it’s MONOPOLY: FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S EDITION with a Freddy-themed board, cards and game pieces. Five Nights at Freddy’s started its popularity as an indie video games series that was published by Scott Cawthon for Microsoft Windows, iOS, and Android. The series features a story of a fictional restaurant named Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, which is very reminiscent of family entertainment restaurants such as Chuck E. Cheese.

In the early games, you play as a night shift security guard who must use a multitude of different tools to survive against animatronic characters, who appear to become alive and homicidal at night. Five Nights at Freddy’s has long surpassed just being a video game; it has made its way into pop culture through clothing and other licensed merchandise. The characters in these games are very different from most and this is a good thing. Although the games are marketed to early teens anyone can enjoy a great scare from any of the games in the series.

USAopoly retains that Monopoly game feel that everyone is familiar with, while mixing in interesting Five Night at Freddy’s. The game features 28 characters from the series, unlike locations in earlier Monopoly game, this time around you buy, sell and trade animatronics from Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, sister location and more. Build up your properties with Pizzerias and Diners (houses and apartment buildings), also taking chances with “Hallucination” and “Mini-game” cards that replace the traditional “Chance” and “Community Chest” cards.

Gamers choose token pieces featured in the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise, such as Freddy Mask, Bonnie’s Guitar, Chica’s Cupcake, Freddy plushy and more. Game play is essentially that of Monopoly (buy properties, build houses, trade properties and try to bankrupt the other players), The game is made for 2-6 players ages 12 and up.

I played this game with my family on game night in our house and we had a ball, personally I learned quite a bit about Five Nights at Freddy’s through discussions throughout the game, enough so that I’m sure horror fans unfamiliar with the franchise will find out some interesting facts from fans and may catch the Freddy “bear bug”.

Immerse yourselves in the game and try and survive the night…. of pure fun with Monopoly: Five Nights at Freddy’s board game.
