Trailers emerge for “ALONE,” “THE OWNERS” and… “NOTZILLA” and “EBOLA REX”!

A pair of upscale independent horror films and a couple of prehistoric B-flicks have all had previews posted today. Jump past the jump to check ’em out!

  • Magnet Releasing unveiled the trailer and poster for ALONE (pictured), a remake of the acclaimed 2012 Swedish thriller GONE that has its international premiere at this month’s Fantasia International Film Festival, and will hit theaters and VOD September 18. John Hyams (UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: DAY OF RECKONING) directed from a script by Mattias Olsson, and Jules Willcox, Marc Menchaca and Anthony Heald (THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS) star. According to the official synopsis, “Willcox stars in ALONE as Jessica, a grief-stricken widow who flees the city in an attempt to cope with the loss of her husband. When Jessica is kidnapped by a mysterious man and locked in a cabin in the Pacific Northwest, she escapes into the wilderness and is pursued by her captor.”

  • Meanwhile, IGN debuted the trailer for THE OWNERS, the housebound horror film coming to select theaters, VOD and digital September 4. Julius Berg directed from a script he wrote with Matthieu Gompei, and the cast includes Maisie Williams (GAME OF THRONES, THE NEW MUTANTS), Sylvester McCoy, Jake Curran, Ian Kenny, Andrew Ellis and Rita Tushingham (THE HOUSEKEEPER). The synopsis: “A group of friends think they’ve found the perfect easy score–an empty house with a safe full of cash. But when the elderly couple that lives there comes home early, the tables are suddenly turned. As a deadly game of cat and mouse ensues, the would-be thieves are left to fight to save themselves from a nightmare they could never have imagined.”

  • And now for something completely different: The trailer has been unveiled for NOTZILLA, the kaiju spoof from director Mitch Teemley and Creepy Ex-Boyfriend Productions. Frederic Eng-Li, Tifani Ahren Davis, Tim Bensch, Samantha Russell, Michael Bath, Becca Kravitz and Spencer Lackey star in the movie, which will be released on digital platforms via Indie Rights and physical media from Allied Vaughn on August 18. The synopsis: “When a scientist from Japan smuggles a monster’s egg into the United States, what could possibly go wrong when it actually hatches–and alcohol makes it grow taller than a skyscraper? The race is on as the monster drinks beer and wreaks havoc, the Japanese scientist tries to shrink it, and a crazed weapons physicist tries to nuke the monster–and possibly take the entire city of Cincinnati with it!”

  • And if that’s not enough prehysteria for you, EBOLA REX is coming September 1 on VOD and DVD from SCS Entertainment and the creators of ANGRY ASIAN MURDER HORNETS. Dustin Ferguson directed, and the cast is headed by Ken May, Mel Novak, Mike Ferguson and Erik Anthony Russo. The synopsis: “During a ‘Dino Lives Matter’ protest, a captive Tyrannosaurus Rex is injected with the Ebola virus by a crazed protester and escapes a lab to wreak havoc in Southern California. It’s up to an obsessed, renegade soldier [May] to stop it.”
