It’s the director’s latest revisiting of a classic genre title after DARK SHADOWS, PLANET OF THE APES and MARS ATTACKS!

Variety reports that Tim Burton will take the helm of a new version of ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN for Warner Bros. Gillian Flynn (GONE GIRL) is scripting the film, which Burton will produce with Andrew Mittman and Tommy Harper. It has not been revealed whether the storyline will directly follow that of the 1958 original movie, which was directed by Nathan Hertz (a.k.a. Nathan H. Juran) and stars Allison Hayes as a wealthy small-town woman who achieves great height after an encounter with an alien, and sets out to avenge herself on her philandering husband (William Hudson). That B-classic was previously remade as a satirical 1993 HBO movie, directed by Christopher Guest and starring Daryl Hannah and Daniel Baldwin.
