After racking up raves from audiences and critics (including this one) during its festival run, the surreal frightfest LUZ now has a date to start scaring general audiences.

Screen Media has announced that it will release LUZ in New York and Los Angeles July 19, with a national release to follow. Written and directed by Tilman Singer who shot it entirely on 16mm, LUZ stars Luana Velis, Jan Bluthardt, Julia Riedler, Johannes Benecke, Nadja Stübiger and Lilli Lorenz. The synopsis: “LUZ begins as a young female cabdriver [Velis, in the title role] drags herself into a rundown police station. However, a demonic entity has followed her there, determined to finally be close to the woman it loves.”
