The award-winning Stone Age chiller has a theatrical release in its future.

Bleecker Street has announced its acquisition of THE ORIGIN, a prehistoric fright film from first-time feature director Andrew Cumming, with big-screen play set for this fall/winter. Scripted by Ruth Greenberg, it stars Chuku Modu, Kit Young, Iola Evans, Safia Oakley-Green, Luna Mwezi, Arno Luening, Rosebud Melarkey and Tyrell Mhlanga. Following its debut at last year’s BFI London Film Festival, the movie was nominated for five British Independent Film Awards, with Oakley-Green taking the Breakthrough Performance prize. The synopsis: “Set more than 45,000 years in the past, Cumming’s highly original horror follows a disparate gang of early humans who band together in search of a new land. But when they suspect a malevolent, mystical being is hunting them down, the clan is forced to confront a horrifying danger they never imagined.”
