“THE LIGHTHOUSE” will shine on home media next month; details, art, new trailer

Robert Eggers’ surreal and striking chiller, featuring two of the year’s best performances, now has a date for VOD, digital and disc release.

Lionsgate has announced that THE LIGHTHOUSE will be available on digital December 20, followed by VOD, Blu-ray + Digital and DVD release January 7. Eggers and his brother Max scripted the film, which stars Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson; the official synopsis describes it as a “hypnotic and hallucinatory tale of two lighthouse keepers [Dafoe and Pattinson] on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s. As an approaching storm threatens to sweep them from the rock and strange apparitions emerge from the fog, each man begins to suspect that the other has become dangerously unmoored.”

The discs will present the film in 16×9-enhanced 1.19:1 pillar box format (1080p on the Blu-ray), with DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio on the Blu-ray and Dolby Digital 5.1 sound on the DVD. Special features are:

  • Audio commentary by co-writer and director Robert Eggers
  • “THE LIGHTHOUSE: A Dark & Stormy Tale” featurette
  • Deleted scenes
