THE 2020 MUSIC BOX OF HORRORS AT THE DRIVE-IN Brings 31 Nights of Terror To Chicago this October

Thursday, September 17, 2020 | News

To the Midwestern horror fanatic, October means two things: a month of spooky merriment and one epic 24-hour horror marathon at the Music Box Theatre. With the very real horror of the COVID-19 pandemic, the theater has pivoted from one all-day test of your ability to sit and watch movies, to a whole month of nightly horror films at the Chi-Town Movies Drive-In in the Pilsen neighborhood. That means that every single night of October, Chicagoland horror fiends will be able to safely get their fix of the best this genre has to offer.

With so many nights of cinema available, the programmers at the Music Box have been able to line up some incredible films both old and new. From Brandon Cronenberg’s forthcoming POSSESSOR to a restored 1933’s LA LLORONA, the scheduled films span the length of film history.

Grindhouse Fridays and Sequel Sundays are destined to have their charms, but perhaps the most innovative recurring night for the festival will be Rip-Off Saturdays. Here, five (yes, this October has five Saturdays) seminal horror films are paired with another film that blatantly ripped it off. You can see SRIGALA, the Indonesian horror collage of a film the same night as FRIDAY THE 13TH, and THE OMEN followed by CATHY’S CURSE.

Ticketing information is available through the Music Box website, as well as more details about the drive-in itself. Check out the full schedule below!
