As the world reels from the COVID-19 outbreak and the changes in the way we live our lives to deal with it, the film scene has inevitably responded in genre terms, as a new independent project called SOCIAL DISTANCE has gotten rolling.

A production of Koa Aloha Media, SOCIAL DISTANCE is directed by B. Luciano Barsuglia, whose movies include the upcoming IMPACT EVENT (coming in April, featuring Michael Berryman and Richard Grieco) and JEKYLL AND HYDE (with the final screen turn by Mickey Rooney). The cast is headed by Jed Rowen, Tasha Tacosa, Rachel Riley, Kasey Brown, Christine Ashley McGee and Shawn Patrick McGee. The synopsis: “SOCIAL DISTANCE follows a public relations and marketing team who gather via the world of video conferencing in a last-ditch effort to save a doomed cruise line following COVID-19 fallout. Over the course of time, the team realizes they might be uncovering a sordid conspiracy. However, as they become stir crazy from isolation, they are no longer sure if it’s a conspiracy they are unraveling or themselves.”

“I wanted to bring the community of creators and actors I work with together during this time to create a social and interactive movie while in isolation,” says Barsuglia, who was preparing another feature that was put on hold when actual social distancing went into effect. “This is a chance for us to do something different and unique,” he says. “Cast and crew are excited about creating in this way.”
