The classic religious shocker has never been so depraved yet looked so clean.
Get the first look below at the new 4K restoration of Ken Russell’s notorious 1971 film THE DEVILS. Warner Bros. Clockwork brings this Director’s Cut to theaters for an exclusive one-week engagement beginning October 16. Set in Loudon, France in 1634, it stars Oliver Reed as Father Urbain Grandier, who is accused of witchcraft by Sister Jeanne (Vanessa Redgrave), a nun who is sexually obsessed with him. Written and directed by Russell, based on Aldous Huxley’s book THE DEVILS OF LOUDON and John Whiting’s play THE DEVILS, it also stars Dudley Sutton, Max Adrian, Gemma Jones, Murray Melvin, Michael Gothard and Georgina Hale. “Assembled from the original camera negative,” according to the PR, “this new 4K restoration presents Ken Russell’s definitive vision of THE DEVILS by referencing the edit he privately constructed in 2004. KEN RUSSELL’S THE DEVILS is the uncut and unfiltered theatrical experience that Russell always envisioned—and the first time the film will be presented restored and in 4K.”
