Yet another resurrection of George A. Romero’s zombie classic now has a date (of the dead) to stalk onto screens.
Syfy has announced that its 10-episode DAY OF THE DEAD will debut October 15 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. “Inspired by” Romero’s 1985 shocker, the show centers on six strangers fighting to survive the first 24 hours of a zombie invasion. Keenan Tracey, Daniel Doheny, Natalie Malaika, Morgan Holmstrom and Kristy Dawn Dinsmore star; Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas scripted and served as showrunners, and Steven Kostanski (THE VOID, PG: PSYCHO GOREMAN) directed the first four episodes. Check out the trailer below the poster.
Looks awesome!
But, there seems to be no connection to Romero’s Day of the Dead at all (other than Zombies). Day of the Dead was about a small group of scientists, civilians, and soldiers living underground in a bunker, and the psychological effects that kind of situation would bring about on everyone.
However, this looks to be more of a Walking Dead’ish series…. Which is fine. I love The Walking dead.
All I’m saying is, why call it Day of the Dead when it has nothing to do with it? Just call it something different and do some bad ass zombie sh!t. I’ll be happy to watch and enjoy!
But,
Maybe I’m wrong, and there is a connection that is not evident in the preview. If this is the case, please disregard my previous words LOL!
Excited to watch either way!
