SXSW premiere “JAKOB’S WIFE,” with Barbara Crampton, gets distribution and a date

Travis Stevens’ directorial follow-up to GIRL ON THE THIRD FLOOR will see release this spring.

RLJE Films and Shudder have announced that they’ve grabbed North American rights to JAKOB’S WIFE, with theatrical and VOD release set for April 16; the movie will then begin streaming on Shudder later in 2021. Stevens scripted with Mark Steensland (THE SPECIAL) and Kathy Charles (CASTLE FREAK), and the cast is headed by Barbara Crampton (RE-ANIMATOR, YOU’RE NEXT), veteran genre filmmaker/actor Larry Fessenden, Nyisha Bell, Mark Kelly, Sarah Lind, Robert Rusler (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2, VAMP), Bonnie Aarons (THE NUN, THE CONJURING 2) and GIRL ON THE THIRD FLOOR star Phil Brooks (a.k.a. CM Punk). The synopsis: “Anne [Crampton] is married to a small-town minister [Fessenden] and feels like her life and marriage have been shrinking over the past 30 years. After a chance encounter with ‘The Master,’ she discovers a new sense of power and an appetite to live bigger and bolder than before. As Anne is increasingly torn between her enticing new existence and her life before, the body count grows and Jakob realizes he will have to fight for the wife he took for granted.” Crampton discusses the movie with us here.
