“SHRINE OF ABOMINATIONS” – A Stop-motion Kickstarter Campaign That’s Out Of This World!

From the deep, dingy bowels of other Earth comes SHRINE OF ABOMINATIONS; this stop-motion horror fantasy epic comes from the minds of visionary artist Skinner (Mastodon, Adult Swim, Tony Hawk Pro Skater), and stop-motion monster master, Ross Kennedy.

The film has been in “secret production” for 6 years and features a collaboration with special effects megastar Phil Tippett (Mad God). SHRINE OF ABOMINATIONS is the culmination of the love of two icons of popular culture, Ray Harryhausen and Jack Kirby. These two have created weird, wonderful, and cosmic stories that stand the test of time.

Skinner and Kennedy have started a Kickstarter campaign to help see their stop-motion “monsterpiece” become reality. You are the key to seeing the SHRINE OF ABOMINATIONS universe become a reality. All the creatures stand together, waiting to wreak havoc upon the screens of the world.

From this excerpt from the Kickstarter Campaign page, the dastardly duo of Skinner and Kennedy have outlined their plans for the film, which they will have finished 5-6 months after the campaign ends (this is if the campaign is successful, of course)

“We are planning to make this first installment 30-45 minutes long, based on what more we can finish once we get the funding! The more money we get, the longer AND BETTER it will be! We brought in VFX/editing powerhouse, Kevin Fermini to help us finish this first chapter of the SHRINE OF ABOMINATIONS universe, so it’s in good hands! Phil Tippett has assisted already and directed sections of the film, and we will have even more help from top animators at Tippett studios once it’s funded. Make no mistake, friends, THIS IS THE MONSTER MOVIE YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR! And we could not be happier to have you on this ride with us! This will be finished within 5-6 months of the Kickstarter ending!!”

Here is what you can expect story-wise from chapter one of SHRINES OF ABOMINATIONS:
“On the cursed world of Orbus Kaal, Gar-Gnargorath, the malevolent leader of the council of wizards, tries to invoke the cosmic horror forms of diameter to begin his universal plans of revenge and domination. Gar Gnargorath’s plans to gain power may not be so easy as the horrible being known as Morgogg also exists in this realm. Perhaps they should meet!”– Kickstarter campaign page.

Of Course with any crowdfunding campaign, there are different perks or rewards. The SHRINE OF ABOMINATIONS campaign is no different, although the rewards are truly epic. Different pledge amounts will get the pledgee some cool items. Pledge ten dollars or more and you can get stickers of abomination, three deluxe stickers that are UV coated. Pledge $40 or more and snag yourself a signed copy of the SHRINE OF ABOMINATIONS Blu-Ray or DVD. Different pledges will also see t-shirts, 24×36 screen-printed movie posters, 2.5 inch resin figures of characters from the film, and so on. There’s even a tier pledge $5000 or more that will see the backer get an original painting, poster, signed Blu-Ray + DVD, your name in the movie credits, and more!

If this sounds like a stop-motion Kickstarter Campaign that makes you all gooey inside, be sure to check out the Campaign page and prepare to back one beast of a film.
