SUMMONING THE SPIRIT, the new film from director Jon Garcia and co-writer Zach Carter, takes the legend of Sasquatch back to its folkloric roots with a decidedly dark twist. Krystal Millie Valdes and Ernesto Reyes (American Gods) star as Carla and Dean, a couple whose move to their dream home far from the bustle of the big city turns into an inescapable nightmare when they discover their idyllic abode in a remote forest is located on land claimed by a sinister cult with ties to a hairy, flesh-eating creature.

The film premiered to much acclaim at the most recent Miami Film Festival, with Gregg Hale, co-producer of 1999’s The Blair Witch Project, calling it “a great addition to the sub-subgenre of Bigfoot horror,” adding, “The film turns convention on its head with a fresh take on Sasquatch while still delivering on the fun and the scares.”

SUMMONING THE SPIRIT from Dark Star Pictures arrives on digital and DVD August 8.
