More students and adults have now been set for the Stephen King adaptation.
Variety reports that 10 actors have now been confirmed for roles in CARRIE, Mike Flanagan’s new take on King’s classic novel for Amazon Prime Video. Joining previously announced Summer H. Howell as Carrie, Siena Agudong as Sue Snell and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle are: Samantha Sloyan (pictured), a Flanagan regular from HUSH, THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE, THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER, THE MIDNIGHT CLUB and MIDNIGHT MASS, as Carrie’s mother Margaret White; Amber Midthunder, who broke out in PREY, as gym teacher Miss Desjardin; Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen; Arthur Conti (BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE) as Billy; Thalia Dudek (who will also be seen this year in another King adaptation, Edgar Wright’s THE RUNNING MAN) as Emaline; Josie Totah as Tina; and Joel Oulette as Tommy.
Flanagan is serving as writer, executive producer (with regular collaborator Trevor Macy) and showrunner of CARRIE, in addition to directing some of the eight episodes. Production is set to start soon in Vancouver; the official synopsis calls this a “bold and timely reimagining of the story of misfit high-schooler Carrie White [Howell], who has spent her life in seclusion with her domineering mother [Sloyan]. After her father’s sudden and untimely death, Carrie finds herself contending with the alien landscape of public High School, a bullying scandal that shatters her community, and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers.”
