Rue Morgue’s CineMacabre Movie Nights presents “CALVAIRE” in HD!

Celebrate the HD remaster of the most surreal, sick, demented movies of all time – Fabrice Du Welz’s CALVAIRE (Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 8PM; The Paradise Theatre; 1006 Bloor Street W, Toronto). TICKET INFO

Since its arrival 16 years ago as part of the so-called New French Extremity, Fabrice du Welz’ CALVAIRE carved a home in the hearts of discerning fans of foreign genre fare. Newly restored and recoloured in HD, the film is international arthouse horror of the most disturbing order, punctuated by shocking violence, shrieking livestock, a truly unsettling dance sequence, and a grimly ambiguous conclusion that pierces the psyche like nails to a cross.

RUE MORGUE is proud to present a special screening of the new restoration, hosted by Executive Editor Andrea Subissati, to introduce modern horror fans to a cinematic ordeal they’re unlikely to ever forget.

A few days before Christmas, traveling entertainer Marc Stevens is stuck at nightfall in a remote wood in the swampy Hautes Fagnes region of Liège when his van breaks down. An odd chap who’s looking for a lost dog then leads Marc to a shuttered inn.
