Robert Eggers follows up “NOSFERATU” with “WERWULF”

He’ll be back in two years with another period take on a classic creature.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Robert Eggers has set WERWULF as his next project, reteaming with Focus Features after the box-office success of his NOSFERATU. Like that vampire film, WERWULF will be a Christmas Day release, in 2026. Eggers wrote the screenplay with Sjón, the Icelandic author with whom he co-scripted THE NORTHMAN; it’s set in 13th-century England and, like Eggers’ THE WITCH, features period-accurate Old English dialogue. According to the trade, Eggers had initially planned to shoot WERWULF in black and white, but that’s no longer happening. Eggers and Sjón are also producing, with Chris and Eleanor Columbus, encoring from NOSFERATU, as executive producers. Stay tuned for further details!
