RIP Frank Pucci a.k.a. KILLJOY, a “Rue Morgue Disciple”

Tuesday, March 20, 2018 | News

We are very saddened by the news that Frank Pucci, best known as KILLJOY, frontman of death metal band NECROPHAGIA, passed away this weekend unexpectedly. Killjoy met the staff of Rue Morgue at horror conventions across the United States where he became a fast and loyal friend. In 2003, Killjoy released his ode to the magazine in the song RUE MORGUE DISCIPLE, which appeared in Necrophagia’s The Divine Art of Torture album of the same year.

Killjoy founded Necrophagia in Ohio in 1983; the band would break up five years later only to reunite at the behest of Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo in 1998. He was the last remaining original member of the band, which released its most recent album, WhiteWorm Cathedral, in 2014.

A gore hound to the very end, we remember Killjoy for his undying love of the genre, his devotion to the reddest of horror and his encyclopedic knowledge of international gore cinema.

Farewell friend…
