Just ahead of its Midnight Madness premiere this weekend at the Toronto International Film Festival, Richard Stanley’s return to feature-film directing has been acquired for the U.S.

RLJE Films has announced that it has snapped up COLOR, marking a reunion of the distrib, producing entity SpectreVision and sales organization XYZ Films after their major success with Panos Cosmatos’ MANDY. Like that film, COLOR stars Nicolas Cage, joined by Joely Richardson, Madeleine Arthur, Brendan Meyer, Julian Hilliard (THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE), Elliot Knight, Q’orianka Kilcher and Tommy Chong. Stanley scripted from H.P. Lovecraft’s classic story with Scarlett Amaris; the synopsis: “After a meteorite lands in the front yard of their farmstead, Nathan Gardner [Cage] and his family find themselves battling a mutant extraterrestrial organism as it infects their minds and bodies, transforming their quiet rural life into a technicolor nightmare.”

COLOR OUT OF SPACE screens as a Midnight Madness presentation at TIFF on Saturday, September 7 at 11:59 p.m. at the Ryerson Theater. Keep your eyes here for details of the movie’s release.
