Richard and Anastasia Elfman hamming it up!

This week, Richard and Anastasia Elfman will wing their way from Hollywood to Asheboro, North Carolina, where the cult movie power couple will be honored at the Sunset Film Festival’s Mightier Than the Sword Awards for their lifelong and ongoing contributions to independent film. Held at the historic Sunset Theatre, the festival runs from January 8 through 11 and celebrates films and filmmakers with roots in North Carolina as well as features, shorts and music videos from around the globe.

In addition to their appearance at the awards ceremony on Saturday, January 11, the Elfmans will take part in an exclusive, on-stage conversation with former Rolling Stone music editor Mark Kemp on the preceding Friday, January 10. Attendees will also be treated to the Elfman Experience with two days of their films (2019’s Aliens, Clowns & Geeks on January 10 followed by a Q&A session with director Richard Elfman and a double feature of a special 45th-anniversary screening of the cult classic The Forbidden Zone and 2024’s Bloody Bridget on January 11). As always, the Elfmans are sure to be full of surprises, so this once-in-a-lifetime event is not to be missed!
