Suddenly, there’s a really good reason to see the upcoming prequel.

Variety reports that iconic actress Pam Grier has joined the cast of the upcoming follow-up to 2019’s adaptation of Stephen King’s PET SEMATARY. Described as an origin story about the ancient burial ground that caused all the trouble in the previous film(s), the currently untitled film gets rolling in August and will premiere exclusively on streaming service Paramount Plus. Screenwriter Jeff Buhler returns from the previous SEMATARY to script the prequel, with Lindsey Beer, who created Netflix’s series THE MAGIC ORDER and has worked on the screenplays for upcoming TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES and STAR TREK films, making her directorial debut. The cast also includes Jackson White, Forrest Goodluck, Jack Mulhern, Natalie Alyn Lind and Isabella Star LeBlanc. It hasn’t been revealed what part Grier will play, but we know she’ll be bad-ass in it.
