The people who brought you new adaptations of WISHMASTER, CREATURE, VAMP and more have now headed Down Under.

Encyclopocalypse Publications has just issued two different paperback editions (trade and mass market) for its novelization of LONG WEEKEND, written by Brett McBean. It’s based on the 1979 Australian ecological chiller directed by Colin Eggleston and scripted by Everett De Roche, which never got a proper U.S. theatrical release but has grown an international cult following via various video/disc editions. The synopsis: “A young couple, Peter and Marcia, decide to spend a weekend in the country. They find an isolated beach on a deserted stretch of the Australian coastline and set up their campsite for the weekend. Suddenly, strange incidents begin to happen as they are attacked by the wildlife. The strange incidents gradually escalate–and so does the terror. Both Peter and Marcia get lost in the bush and discover the animals blocking their path. It becomes apparent that the animals are herding them, and they have no choice but to go–but where?”

LONG WEEKEND can be purchased at various on-line retailers and at the Encyclopocalypse website, where every order comes with a free digital copy. You can grab the trade edition here and the mass market edition here.
