Soon you’ll be able to read the complete saga of Maxine, Pearl et al.

Ti West’s X, PEARL and MAXXXINE all homaged cinema of the past, so it’s only appropriate that A24 will release novelizations of them paying homage to movie tie-in paperbacks of the ’80s. All three will sport retro covers (see them below) and were written by four-time Bram Stoker Award-winning writer Tim Waggoner, with X set to be published September 24, PEARL following November 19 and MAXXXINE scheduled to arrive in early 2025.

According to the PR, “Tim Waggoner brings a deep affinity and acuity for the genre, with an innate ability to tell dark, compelling stories. For the X trilogy in particular, Waggoner immediately understood the vision of director Ti West, crafting an entertaining slasher that is rich and nuanced, told from the strong point of view of its female protagonist, which Mia Goth has immortalized on screen.”

Says Waggoner, “What made writing the novelization of X different was that Ti West was very hands-on throughout the entire process. He read various drafts of the novel and offered great suggestions for improvement, ensuring that my novelization portrayed his characters accurately and aligned with his overall vision for the film, while at the same time allowing me the creative freedom to make X my story.”
