The new wave of adaptations of classic horror movies just keeps getting stronger.
Echo On Publications, which previously published Christian Francis’ novelization of SESSION 9, has announced a whole batch of upcoming paperbacks from the author, adapting cult fright films of the ’80s and ’90s. The titles include THE GATE (pictured above), the MANIAC COP trilogy (with COP 3 based on Larry Cohen’s original unproduced script), Dee Snider’s STRANGELAND, THE FIRST POWER and the French 3615 CODE PÈRE NOËL (DIAL CODE SANTA CLAUS, a.k.a. DEADLY GAMES). According to the PR, “These adaptations will capture the essence of the original films while expanding on their nightmarish worlds in ways never seen before. And this is just the beginning–many many more titles will be announced soon, making 2025 a banner year for horror movie literature.”
“Writing these novelizations is a dream come true,” says Francis, who has also adapted TITAN FIND a.k.a. CREATURE, VAMP and WISHMASTER for Encyclopocalypse, and has a novelization of THE DESCENT coming in October from Titan Books. “These films have terrified and inspired audiences for years, and I’m honored to bring them to life in an entirely new medium.”
