A24 will release BACKROOMS only to theaters May 29. Kane Parsons (a.k.a. Kane Pixels) directed this expansion of his series of popular on-line shorts about the discovery of a mysterious Complex of strange and scary rooms. Will Soodik scripted, the producers include James Wan and Osgood Perkins and the cast is headed by Oscar nominees Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve, Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett and Lukita Maxwell. According to the official synopsis, the story begins when “A strange doorway appears in the basement of a furniture showroom.” Ejiofor’s character goes exploring the rooms beyond it, starts to bring others along, and scary stuff ensues…
