The people behind the upcoming killer-fish flick JETSKI (pictured) have another great white fright film set to roll.
Variety reports that THE WRECK will begin shooting in Malta in September under the direction of Liam O’Donnell, a visual effects artist (ALIENS VS. PREDATOR–REQUIEM) turned filmmaker who produced and co-wrote the original SKYLINE and helmed the sequels BEYOND SKYLINE and SKYLINES. Screenwriter Nick Saltrese and producers Andrew Prendergast and Chris Reed are encoring from JETSKI, about college friends stranded in the open ocean after a jetski accident and terrorized by sharks; THE WRECK is about college friends on a scuba-diving excursion trapped in the wreckage of a WWII battleship and terrorized by sharks. Mark Silk, who shot the 47 METERS DOWN duo, is the director of photography, and Altitude Film Sales is selling the movie at the Cannes virtual market this summer.
“Who doesn’t want to explore a beautiful underwater shipwreck with smart, funny and gorgeous people as great white sharks try to tear them all to shreds?” O’Donnell tells the trade. “Nick’s script is a real white-knuckled ride and Mark is one of the best underwater cinematographers in the world. I can’t wait to dive in.”
